Frequently Asked Questions

What is intuitive eating?

Intuitive eating is a method of rejecting the traditional “diet” approach, and honing in on your body’s hunger cues. Rather than counting calories, you will be listening to your body. Incorporating an intuitive approach to eating allows you to honor your body’s hunger cues, understand when you are full, while respecting your body. This method allows individuals to understand emotional eating at a deeper level. Rather than counting your carbs and macros, you will be listening to your body and honoring its needs.

How often will we schedule our sessions?

This can vary client by client. After we meet, we will discuss a plan that is right for you. Sessions can be weekly, twice a month, or monthly. This depends on what is right for your needs. We will focus on a long term plan to help you achieve your long term goals. Our goal is to help you develop lifestyle changes that will not happen overnight! You will also have unlimited email access if you have any questions in between our sessions.

Will my insurance cover my sessions?

I am not currently under contract with any insurance companies at this time, but can provide a superbill that can be submitted to your insurance. You can call your insurance company before our sessions and ask about “out of network” coverage. This will give you an idea of what will be covered (partial or full reimbursement). Initial visits are billed under code 97802 and follow-up visits are billed under code 97803. We can discuss during our phone consultation what questions are important to ask your insurance company to help you better understand your coverage.

What is a Registered Dietitian?

A Registered Dietitian (RD) is an individual who is credentialed under the Commission on Dietetic Registration. These individuals have achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of nutrition. This is followed by the completion of a dietetic internship, including extensive training in the clinical, community, foodservice, and outpatient settings. Upon completion of this internship, one must pass an extensive registration exam to earn the title RD. This registration takes many years of training and is based on scientifically-based evidence and research.
